13.2 Future Version of Yourself

Who is She?

With this step, we are stepping into self-love and self-trust, and letting go of self-doubt.

When you can lean on the advice of the woman you desire to become, you will stop asking other people for their opinion. The only one you need is the one inside of you – the version of you who exists in the future. She knows the answer.


Okay, so this month, we’re talking about belief and commitment. And when we talk about belief and commitment, where we have to start is with the future version of yourself. So, we are currently in the process of creating that future version of yourself.

Now, here’s what’s really important is the future version of yourself may change as you go through life. So, think about the future version of yourself in one year, two years, five years, where do you want to be? You can also think about another version of yourself, the version of yourself who is 10 years older than you. What is she like? What is she wearing? How does she act? How does she exude her confidence? Okay?

So, when we make the future versions of ourselves, more compelling than cookies or food, then the cookies and food no longer have power over us. When we create this future version of ourselves, we are really stepping into that version. And in the next video, I have a video about our personal board of directors.

What I want you to start doing is as you have this compelling vision of who you are in the future, who you want to be in the future, I want you to start taking advice from her. I want you to start tapping into her when you have a problem. When you’re trying to decide, what do I want to do? Think about, what does she do and then do that?

Now, this future version of yourself, what I want you to think about is that she’s an actual person. She is you, and I want you to think about her and love her like you love an older sister. An older sister that doesn’t exist yet, but she’s going to exist in the future, and it’s going to be you. And so, I really want you to start cultivating this love and admiration for this future version of yourself, because that’s going to be you.

And she loves you right now. She loves you for the steps that you are taking in order to become her, because she cannot exist without you doing what you are doing today. And I have goosebumps just thinking about that, that I am actively creating this future version of myself, and I have nothing but love and admiration for her. And she has that same love and kindness for myself. And so, that then starts the whole process of cultivating self-love.

Now, you are not perfect and it’s totally okay. But the future version of yourself is going to look at you with love and compassion, just like you can look at old pictures of yourself with love and compassion. Have you ever done that? Have you ever looked at an old picture of yourself and thought to yourself, “oh my gosh, I have so much compassion for her.”

She was really struggling and at the time I was just beating myself up about whatever it was, whatever the problem was. But I can see now from being removed from it a little bit, that I really needed to be giving myself compassion. And so, even if you cannot give yourself compassion today, your future version of yourself can give you compassion today. All right?

So, now I have a couple questions for you. The first one is, who is the future version of yourself? And I want you to start to think about like, who do you admire? And I have another video here called your personal board of directors and I’m going to get into this a little bit more over there. But start to think about, who you admire? Do you have people in real life, who you admire? Do you have celebrities that you admire and why do you admire them? Are there qualities that that person has that you can borrow? “Kind of an interesting question, right?”

So, use other women or men as inspiration for who you want to be in the future. And this was actually the Genesis of me, creating my future version of myself. I don’t know if I’ve told this story not. So, when my husband and I were on our honeymoon, we were on a small yacht in Tahiti, I know very puff-puff.

And there was this Belgian woman on the cruise, and I didn’t know her, I couldn’t communicate with her because she only spoke French and I don’t. But there is something about her that just really was inspiring to me about her. Now today, she’s probably nothing like, what qualities that I’ve put on her, because I don’t know anything about this woman.

But what it started me doing was starting to think about, who do I want to be when I am her age? She just was so cool, and I wanted to be like her. And so, it allowed me to start thinking about, “well, what is she doing on a regular basis?” And so, I want you to answer those questions for the future version of you.

What do you want to be doing in the future? And we’ve talked about this already in the goals and vision module about really creating that vision of yourself and who she is. And so, how does the future version of yourself show up for herself? What does she pay attention to?

So, going back to the first module awareness, how is she paying attention? Is she paying attention to her food? Is she paying attention to her body? How is she doing that? How does she think? Again, going into the next video called your personal board of directors? What is she thinking about? How does she think about food and alcohol? How does she think about exercise? How does she think about her routine? How does she think about her problems?

Because when we have problems then today, we can borrow her thoughts, we can borrow her expertise, even though we don’t have it, but we’re building it today.

So, what is she doing on a regular basis and what are her behaviors? And the only way she’s going to be able to do these behaviors as we start to build the foundation for that for her later. What are you doing now that you want to keep and what do you want to let go of? And then, how does she handle conflict? How does she handle her boundaries? How does she handle loving herself? Okay? So, these are all questions again, going to this future version of ourselves.

Now, here’s the thing, the more we can create a very compelling version of our future version of ourselves, the more we can step into belief about that she is real and that she is going to exist. That’s how this comes back to the belief and commitment module.

So, the more we can focus on this future version of myself, who she is, what she looks like, how she feels on a regular basis, the more I can picture her, the more I can smell her, and feel her. The more I can believe that she is going to exist in the future.

And when I can believe that she exists in the future, nothing will get in my way of making that happen. And nothing will stand in my commitment to her to be realized in the future. The more you can focus on this future version of yourself, and really step into her, your success is inevitable. And I really want you to embody that. When you can really focus on this future version of yourself, your success is inevitable. Okay?
